Description

Comprising a necklace, a bracelet and two brooches, decorated in Indian taste with round and pear-shaped chrysoprase cabochons within openwork frames of scroll design set with cushion-shaped rubies, the necklace supporting a fringe of pearl drops, the bracelet and brooches decorated with egg-shaped pearls, together with a hair pin attachment for the circular brooch, necklace and bracelet lengths 14 and 7 inches, bracelet and brooches signed C.G. With original fitted leather case signed C. Giuliano, the cover gilt-embossed with initals E.A.G..

Catalogue Note

Emily Anna Gibbs, neĆ© Otter, whose initials appear on the lid of the case for this parure, married Martin Gibbs of Barrow Court, Somerset, with whom she had eight sons and a daughter. The Gibbs family were merchant bankers and are generally considered one of  Carlo Giuliano's most prominent patrons between the years of 1863 and 1895.
