The subject of this cameo is likely allegorical of the arbitrary nature of love. Another 'blind man's bluff' cameo can be found on a necklace in the catalogue The Art of the Jeweller, The Hull Grundy Gift to the British Museum, Hugh Tait, ed., Vol. I, p. 133, no. 890 and Vol. II, p. 223, no. 890.
