A Ninghsia carpet, West China,

The field design of the lot offered here is composed of offset rows of peonies connected by trailing stems and leaves set against a beige background; a narrow area of plain field has been left just inside the border. Each of the peonies is created in dark blue or light blue. The field is surrounded by two primary borders: one with a ‘key’ pattern, the other, the primary border, with a swastika-design in the typical greyish brown color of the period.
