Condition

The canvas has been lined. The canvas has a small tear towards the right hand edge, resulting in minor paint loss. There is craquelure to the paint surface and evidence of stretcher marks. There is surface dirt to the work and an uneven varnish. Otherwise in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no sign of retouching. Held in a simple gold painted frame in fair condition. The painting is considerably lighter than the catalogue illustration suggests.
