Catalogue Note

The original owner of this painting, Ann Ramsay (1914-2006), was married to the artist's cousin Duncan Ramsay whose sisters Jean and Gwen Ramsay were students of de Maistre and helped him paint the Children's Chapel in St James Church, Sydney. After her divorce Anne Ramsay worked as an actress and became well known as a musical broadcaster on Sydney radio.
