Della Robbia Pottery Co. was founded by Harold Rathbone and Conrad Dressler in 1894 and was retailed widely in the period through Liberty and Co.  Rathbone studied under the English painter Ford Madox Brown who was closely associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Bortherhood and was a founding member of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
