- A Marble Head of a Goddess
- Height 16 1/2 in. 42 cm.
turned to her left, her oval face with full parted lips, the centrally parted hair surmounted by a crescentic diadem and swept back to a small chignon on the nape of the neck, curls escaping on either side.

Catalogue Note
The Modern Style architect Gaston Castel built several public and private structures in Marseille and was active from the 1920s through the 1950s. For a biographical notice and an overview of his work see Musées de Marseille, Gaston Castel, architecte marseillais (1886-1971), Marseille, 1988 (reviewed in Domus, no. 707, VI-VII, July-Aug 1989). A portion of his estate, including furniture, paintings, and works of art, was sold at auction at the Hôtel des Ventes d'Avignon in December 1989.
