the spot-hammered surface etched and applied with veined water-plant leaves and erect seed pods, also applied with a cricket and beetle, the handle ending in raised spirals, marked on base and numbered 6463-5027/ 2090

Catalogue Note

The initial on the base is that of William V. Moore, b. 1856, a prominent Michigan attorney and banker associated with the firm of Moore and Caufield, and after, Moore and Goff.  Among his positions was President of the Detroit Board of Education, a title he held for two years.
