Catalogue Note
This rare book rack, most likely a custom-ordered design, is the only example presently known of the form with a v-shaped bottom shelf and flush tenons. The catalogued model of this design (no. 74) has a flat bottom shelf below a v-shaped top shelf with exposed through-tenons. This example retains its exceptional original ebonized finish.
