Catalogue Note

The present centre table is based on a model inspired by Jacob and produced by several Parisian makers, including Francois Linke (1855 - 1946) whose workshop in 70 Faubourg Saint-Antoine was one of the most fashionable places for luxury furniture.

Denis Ledoux-Lebard, in Le Mobilier Francais du XIXe Siecle, 1795-1899,Paris 1989, p4. 84, illustrates a similar table made by the Parisian maker Millet at the end of the 19th century and also in Christopher Payne, The Price Guide to Nineteenth Century European Furniture, Woodbridge 1981, p. 222,p. 671 the same model is illustrated but with no maker’s name mentioned.
