Catalogue Note

This lot is a finished study for the large picture in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris, dated 1845 and exhibited at the Salon of 1846 (no. 765). The tent of Sidi Mohammed ben Abd-el-Rhaman, eldest son of the King of Morocco and head of his army was captured by the French at the Battle of Isly in August 1844.
