Description

  • 94cm. high, 53cm. diameter; 3ft. 1in., 1ft. 8¾in.
of circular form, the top painted with bacchic cherubs en grisaille, opening to reveal a removable tôle liner, the lockplate stamped PW, the frieze with rosettes, the body applied with berried laurel swags, on inward curved fluted supports, joined by a circular shelf centred by a gilt-bronze neo-classical urn and cover with hinged lid, on stylised Greek key feet; painting refreshed

Condition

Colours overall fairly accurate. Overall some surface wear, mainly to painting on the top. Hinged lid warped, as visible from photograph. Some splits and cracks generally and there is a hairline crack running across the top. In overall good conserved condition. Unusual object.
