Catalogue Note

The present work was exhibited at Waddington and Tooth Galleries as an example of Blake's Samples series. Falling into the 'Wrestlers' category (others included 'Self Portraits', 'Pictures about Postcards', 'Pop Art' and 'Record Covers') Bernie Berni was entirely a figment of Blake's imagination. Other stars of the wrestling arena created by Blake were 'Pretty Penny', 'The Duchess: Duchess of Doom - Mistress of Mayhem' and 'The Demolition Squad - Birmingham Drizzle and Lady Doctor versus the Nice Girls'.
