Catalogue Note
The central vernis Martin panel is painted after Jean-honore Fragonard's The Fountain of Love, now in the permanent collection of the Getty museum in Malibu. The story of the garden of love is an allegory of the nature and progress of love taking its source in the poetry of the classical antiquity.
