brown patinated bronze, signed E.DELAPLANCHE and inscribed to the base F.BARBEDIENNE FOUNDEUR, and with the Achille Collas reduction pastille.
Catalogue Note
Eugne Delaplanche studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and exhibited for the first time at Phe Paris Salon in 1861. At the 1864 Salon he won the Grand Prix allowing him to study in Rome. From Rome Delaplanche sent to Paris white carrara marble figures for exhibition and to be sold in galleries with for principal subject, the female figure, which were to establish his reputation.
