Catalogue Note
Auguste Moreau, whose full name is Auguste-Louis Mathurin, belonged to a dynasty of artists spanning three generations and including painters, sculptors, and architects. Not to be confused with his brothers Mathurin (1822-1912) and Hippolyte (1832-1927), or his sons Louis-Auguste (1855-1927) or Hippolyte François (1857-1930), he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1861 and 1913.
