Catalogue Note

Son of Didier Debut, Marcel was a painter as well as a sculptor. He studied with his father and later with Thomas and Chapu and also at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Debut began exhibiting both paintings and sculpture at the Salon in 1883.
