both finely painted, one with a shoulder-length portrait of an elderly Seventeenth century woman, the other of an elderly man, impressed KPM mark beneath a sceptre and the letter H, paper label on the back of both giltwood frames, Bequest of Roger P. Clark, White Art Museum, Corneil University. Set within an antique carved giltwood frame.
Catalogue Note
The present pair of porcelain plaques are painted after the original portraits by the Old Master painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669) which critics believe to be portraits of his parents.
