Catalogue Note
The present lot is painted in the manner of David Teniers II (Antwerp 1610-1690 Brussels) after a painting of a Card Game, circa 1860, now in the permanent collection of the Louvre Museum. Tavern scenes and game players, often playing dice as in the present lot, feature prominently in Teniers' oeuvre.
