Cupid and Psyche is one of Canova's most celebrated sculpture. Consequently inspiring contrasting reactions, two of the best known being Wordsworth who is said to have retreated from the group saying "Devils!", while Flaubert is reputed to have kissed first the Psyche's armpit, then her foot, head, face explaining "it was my first sensual kiss for a long time."
