Description

  • height 17in. (43.2cm)
of swollen cylindrical form, etched with a design of horse chestnut branches, signed L. Lambert.

Catalogue Note

The vase is Massier form No. 72 "vase Etrusque", illustrated in Manufacture de Faiences D'Art: Clement Massier Golfe-Juan, pp. 12-13. The usual Massier mark has presumably been obliterated by the excess glaze on the base and the decorator Lambert has, most unusually, been allowed to sign the vase on the body.
