each finely painted, by W. H. Morley, signed, with a different fish subject within a narrow acid etched and gilt border at the rim, green printed factory mark and Marshall Field & Company, Chicago retailer's mark, gilt fish titles and factory code 8"/K.16.
Catalogue Note
William H. Morley was an English decorator, working for the Ceramic Art Company and its successor, Lenox, in the early part of the 20th century. A vase, a plate and plaque painted by Morley are illustrated by Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, American Porcelain, 1770-1920, pp. 245, 254 and 256. A set of Lenox game plates by Morley was sold in these rooms, October 8, 2004, lot 36.
