Catalogue Note
G. Landgraf was known as a figure painter, active at Derby from 1880-85, following a period of employment at Brown-Westhead, Moore. John Twitchett and Betty Bailey reproduce an 1878 letter from Landgraf, Royal Crown Derby, p. 218, Appendix 4, which indicates that from 1873 to 1878 he had been also employed as a "first artist" at the Royal Manufactory in Berlin.
