surmounted by a white inset marble top, above ribbon-tied cast border, fitted with one single cupboard door opening to one shelf, with old paper label reading OFFICE INTERNACIONAL / BEDEL & Cie. / 65, Rue NEAVE St. AGUSTIN, PARIS. and a contemporary label reading Forbes Gordon Estate, the lock stamped DHIEL / 19. r. Michel - le - Comte / PARIS.

Catalogue Note

Charles-Guillaume Dhiel was a craftsman of German origin (1811-circa 1885) who moved to Paris around 1840.  He participated in all the major international exhibitions during the middle of the 19th century, commencing with the Great Exhibition in 1851.
