Catalogue Note

The firm Denière produced a variety of high quality decorative objects under the Second Empire and supplied important commissions to the Mobilier de la Couronne.  Tardy cites the firm as being active until 1890.

The gilt-bronze group surmounting the clockcase is after the model by Ernest Carrier-Belleuse  titled  "L' Amour se confie a L' Amitié"
