Catalogue Note

Although the Museum Simu in Bucharest has three of his works in its permanent collection, nothing specific appears to be recorded regarding the sculptor O. Spalmach.  The celebrated sculptor Orazio Andreoni, in whose Roman studio the latter clearly worked, is known to have exhibited in Turin in 1884, in Berlin in 1892, and in Munich in 1893.  He carried out many works in the last quater of the 19th century which found their way into distinguished English and American collections.  O. Spalmach was established in Venice and produced the present sculpture most probably under Andreoni's supervision.

A sculpture by O. Spalmach sold Christie's, London, November 1, 2001, lot 297.
