Description

with serpentine-fronted marble top above a single frieze drawer with interlocking circle mounts, fitted with two long drawers sans traverse, raised on splayed legs, with inset metal label to the upper drawers incribed SORMANI 134, Bd. Hausmann. Paris.

Catalogue Note

Paul-Charles Sormani (1848-1934) originally worked with his father, the celebrated cabinet-maker Paul and subsequently with his mother Ursule-Marie-Philippine, until 1878.  In 1914, he formed a partnership with Thiebault Frères and established their shop at 134, boulevard Haussmann. The firm remained at this address until it closed in 1934.
