Catalogue Note
Mary I of Scotland (1542-1587) is better known as Mary, Queen of Scots, monarch of the Kingdom of Scotland from December 14, 1542 to July 24, 1567, and Queen Consort of France from July 10, 1559 to December 5, 1560. She is most probably the best known of the Scottish monarchs, in part because of the tragedy of her life.
