Description
- Alfred Boucher
- Volubilis (Convolvulus)
- signed: A.BOUCHER
- white marble
Catalogue Note
Boucher's 1896 Salon exhibit Volubilis was the begining of several variations on the theme of the female body emerging from a roughly carved surround which the sculptor made over many years. The idea was developed in the following year in his figure entitled Aux Champs and further elaborated in the half-length, La RĂªve, of 1912. The present version is undated, but the turn of the head is closest to the 1896 marble.
