Catalogue Note
Le Véel was fascinated by the subject of Joan of Arc. The Susse foundry, which cast the present bronze, published his Quelques observations sur Jeanne d'Arc au point de vue de sa représentation plastique. The plaster statue of Jeanne d'Arc was submitted to the Salon of 1867 and the bronze (Salon of 1880) was placed in the Bishopric of Orléans in 1899.
