Henry Valter fl.1854-1878

Abbeville is on the river Somme about twelve miles from its mouth and twenty five miles to the north-west of Amiens.  The west front of the church of St.Wolfram was commenced in the reign of Louis XII.  Noble portals and rich tracery characterises the 'Flamboyant' architectural style of the fifeenth century. 

Henry Valter was a landscape painter from Birmingham who worked extensively in France and Germany besides England.  He exhibited from 1854 to 1864 at the British Institution and elsewhere
