Catalogue Note
This view was used, with somewhat different boats in the foreground, for plate 261 in Rademaker's compendium of 300 topographical prints, Kabinet van Nederlandsche Outheden en Gezichten, published by Willem Barents in Amsterdam in 1725. As the inscription on the plate indicates, Rademaker shows the castle as it appeared in 1620, presumably basing his depictions on an unidentified earlier drawing or print.
