Catalogue Note

Cooke first visited Holland in 1837.  It was a favourite place for him and he continued to go there regularly, the last visit being in 1879 shortly before his death.  This is an early drawing, probably from 1837 or 1838, and relates closely to several of his early Dutch subjects
