Catalogue Note

Callow visited Beaugency, which he described as 'a pretty town' during his walking tour of France in the summer of 1836. He arrived there on 12th June and recorded in his journal that 'in the evening we went on the fine old bridge, with twenty-five arches over the river and saw a beautiful sunset effect...' (Jan Reynolds, William Callow, R.W.S., 1980, p.20)
