Catalogue Note

On 15th February 1825, to escape heavy debts and his wife, Chinnery boarded the Hythe and sailed from Calcutta. He reached Macao, after a brief stop at Penang, on 29th September.  In 1826 he took a short lease on a house near the church of Sao Lourenco, towards the point of the Peninsula, and it remained his home for the rest of his life
