Clarke, Arthur C.

The novel based on a screenplay by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. However, the screenplay was primarily written by Kubrick and the novel by Clarke, each working closely with the other. Eventually the film was released first although, originally, Clarke and Kubrick had been unclear whether the novel would be published before the release of the film.

The film was nominated for four Oscars, winning one ("Best Effects and Special Visual Effects" for Kubrick).
