Catalogue Note

The sitter was the daughter of Sir Edward Dering, 5th Bt of Surrendon-Dering. On 28th September she was married to Sir Robert D'Arcy Hildyard, 4th Bt. of Patrington, Winestead. He served as High Sheriff for Yorkshire 1783.
