Nguyen Gia Tri's sublime lacquer 'Village Scene' is an extremely fine piece that demonstrates the artist's genius in mastering the challenging lacquer technique. As the foremost pioneer for the development of polished lacquer art, and as one of the advocates for the stylization of folkloric imagery, Nguyen Gia Tri set the norms for lacquer art for many generations of Vietnamese artists.
