CATALOGUE NOTE

The Imperial yacht Derzhava was used by three Tsars, Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II. It was used over twenty-seven years and is said to be the largest and most opulent yacht built in Imperial Russia. The interior, including the porcelain, was designed by the architect Monigetti, famous for building the Polytechnic Museum in St Petersburg and the main staircase in the Grand Catherine Palace.
