Catalogue Note

A reduced version of de Gasc's original three-quarter length painted in Brunswick the previous year 1768, and sold in this sale as lot 486. Another larger version of this portrait, with differences in the background, is in the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum in Braunschweig (Inv. Nr. 782).
