Catalogue Note

The sitter was the daughter of King George I and his wife, Sophia Dorothea. She married Friedrich Wilhelm, King of Prussia (1713-1740).

The composition of the present painting bears some resemblance to the portrait of Sophia Dorothea at Blenheim.
