The present painting repeats in composition a work by Michele Marieschi in the Blaffer collection, Houston (see M. Manzelli, Michele Marieschi e il suo alter-ego Francesco Albotto, Venice 1991, p. 59, cat. no. M.30.1, reproduced).
The present painting is accompanied by a photocopy of a certificate from Giuseppe Fiocco, dated October 1958, in which he attributes the painting to Bernardo Bellotto.
