Description
Joseph Schmitz, maître in 1761.

the breche violette marble top above a frieze drawer inlaid with an oak leaf swag, the fall-front fitted with an associated panel of Japanese lacquer, flanked by inlaid ribbon-tied swags, the fitted interior with associated Japanese lacquer panels, the lower part with a pair of cupboard doors; the canted corners with brass flutes and ormolu acanthus scrolls; the sides inlaid with a cartouche with the motto "Asses prie Qui se complaint" .
Provenance
Jean de Gléon, 5th Baron de Durban, vicomte de Perillos who became Chevalier de Malte in 1740 and was received at Court in 1761 (his crest is inlaid on the present piece).
