Description
- height 36 1/2 in.; width 25 1/2 in.
- 93 cm; 65 cm
each with an upholstered backrest and panelled top rail carved with rosettes, the fluted padded armrests raised on square supports, the loose-cushion seat carved with lappets and foliate motifs, on square tapered and sabre legs; the whole painted white and highlighted with gilding.

The brand JP beneath a coronet is thought to be that of Prince Jozef Poniatowski (1763-1813). It has been recorded on an ormolu-mounted mahogany side table, sold, Christie's, London, July 5, 2001, and also on an extremely rare inlaid armchair, sold, Sotheby's, New York, October 25, 2002, lot 1436.
