A Louis XIV pewter-inlaid ebony and kingwood bureau brisé circa 1700

the rectangular hinged divided top veneered with a central ebony cartouche inlaid in pewter to form strapwork, foliate rinceaux and shell motifs, the corners similarly inlaid, the interior of the top inlaid with a coat-of-arms in polychrome marquetry flanked by monogram panels; the front with a narrow fall-front enclosing a long drawer above a recessed pair of doors flanked by a pair of drawers on either side, raised on square tapered legs joined by shaped stretchers outlined with pewter stringing; the whole veneered in kingwood outlined with pewter-inlaid ebony borders.
