Catalogue Note
Polychrome glass objects were principally produced in Murano; a comparable example is illustrated, G. Morazzoni, Il Mobile Veneziano del Settecento, Milan, 1958, Vol. II, pl. CCLXII. Another comparable pair of girandole mirrors with polychrome flowers was sold from the Silva Collection, Semenzato, Venice, December 13, 1986, lot 117.
An set of six identical girandole mirrors are located in the dining room of the apartment of Principessa Isabelle in the Palazzo Colonna, Rome, illustrated in the Guide, p. 28, pl. 27. The Colonna girandoles still retain their candle branches which are attached to the lower part of the cartouche-shaped frame.
