Description

  • height 38 in.; width 85 3/4 in.; depth 27 1/4 in.
  • 97 cm; 218 cm; 69 cm
the scrolled ends with baluster top rail and solid splat centered by the monogram JB within a lozenge, the plain rails centered at the front by a semi-circular plaque also bearing the monogram JB flanked by palmettes, raised on shaped legs.

Provenance

Anonymous sale, Christie's, Monaco, July 2-3, 1993, lot 134, when it was stated that according to tradition, this day bed was the property of Napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte (1768-1844), King of Naples (1806) and King of Spain (1808-1813)
