A rare Louis XV ormolu and porcelain 'fountain' the ormolu circa 1735

Description

  • height 16 1/2 in.
  • 42 cm
the voluted scrolled ormolu surround with deeply scrolled supports cast and fitted with elaborate foliate scrolls, wave motifs, flowerheads and hung with floral garlands, the upper part with a porcelain receptacle, and with a Chinese figure holding a parasol seated on the rim above a basin with ormolu cascading water border, flanked by small shaped porcelain panels. Some elements missing.  Fitted with Sèvres porcelain fragments of later date.
