Catalogue Note
Jacqueline Duhême painted a series of charming, miniature pictures of the trip President and Mrs. Kennedy took to Paris in 1961. Subsequently, Ms. Duhême gave this series to the Kennedys and was invited to travel with the First Lady and her sister, Princess Lee Radziwill, when they went to India and Pakistan in 1962. This trip was the basis for a second series and was published as a book, Mrs. Kennedy Goes Abroad, in 1998. Princess Radziwill lived in London at the time and Mrs. Kennedy stopped there for two days on her way back to Washington. The above shows her asleep in her sister’s house, being visited by her nephew and his dog.
