Catalogue Note
George Frederic Watts sat to D.W. Wynfield at least twice and was a keen admirer of his photographic portraits. It was he who encouraged Cameron to make a study of Wynfield's photographs in order to improve her own. Interestingly, he also advised her to abandon historical costume for her sitters, the hallmark of Wynfield's published work.
